Je suis, 2011

Create by: Antonin Jousse

Je suis is an in situ installation design to transform the scenography of this little park of Valenciennes. Every day, hudreds of students crossing park and following this path. This installation is soberly constitued of three foot eight red stakes and it creates a new path for passengers. Je suis (imply in French "I am" and "I follow") has two meanings: first, assert an individuality by giving the user alternative choice; second, follow the crowd movement and follow a predictive path.
I observed various reactions, some people do not use the new red path, some people do not see it and the others play with the stakes. This installation affirms the urban space in which we live and asks us about its experience.

the installation was composed by hundred red stakes in a huge line to guide the public the installation was composed by hundred red stakes in a huge line to guide the public the installation was composed by hundred red stakes in a huge line to guide the public the installation was composed by hundred red stakes in a huge line to guide the public the installation was composed by hundred red stakes in a huge line to guide the public the installation was composed by hundred red stakes in a huge line to guide the public
